冷油器主要由上、下水室亦或前、后水室，壳体及管系构成。低温冷却水在换热管内流动，高温润滑油在冷却换热管外随导流隔板以S形流动，以此增大冷热交换过程，提高冷却效果。通过调节冷却水的流量，可有效控制润滑油的温度。
